  • Candidates possessing skills which are in high demand fall under the category of Skilled Visa. In such cases an employer sponsorship may not be required and people with varied field of experience can apply for this Visa. Skilled Visas are divided into four categories depending on various subclass.
  • Skilled Independent Visa is issued under Subclass 189 to the applicants who doesn't have any employer sponsorship or nomination from any government agency. Skilled workers with this visa can live and work anywhere in Australia similar to a permanent resident.
  • Skilled Nominated Visa is issued under Subclass 190 to those nominated by any Australian government organisation. Sponsorship by an employer or family member is not applicable for this category. Skilled Nominated Visa holders can live and work as permanent resident in any specific state.
  • Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa under subclass 489 is issued to skilled workforce and it entitles to live and work in any specific regional areas for a limited timeline. Applicants in this category can avail sponsorship from state regional body or a family member who meets certain criteria. After spending certain period of in a particular region, the Visa holder can apply for permanent residency.
  • Some major highlights of Visa issued in this category are that the applicant need to apply for an occupation enlisted in the skilled occupation list. The applicant need to establish that he/she possesses the skills required for an occupation for which the Visa application has been made. The applicant must not cross 45 years of age.
